Travel far, broaden your sight, and the world will open before you.
Greatness is earned through effort and virtue; the heavens favor those who never cease to rise.
Caesar Measures Himself Against Alexander
Ancient writers tell that while serving in Spain Julius Caesar encountered an image or history of Alexander the Great and lamented that Alexander had conquered so much at an age when Caesar had achieved comparatively little. Whether polished by legend or not, the episode expresses the ambition that drove Caesar from provincial office toward command, conquest, and political supremacy. His response to comparison was not resignation but a vow to rise. The story represents dissatisfaction converted into disciplined effort and wider vision.
